Ian Marber published the book The Food Doctor in 1999, and has since gone on to become known worldwide for his knowledge and work on nutrition and helping others enjoy a healthier lifestyle. He heads The Food Doctor nutrition clinic in Holland Park, London.

The Food Doctor plan is one that is based upon 10 principles of healthy eating, to increase your metabolism, to sustain weight loss, and increase energy. While it does not include any one food group, its main objective is to encourage everyone to eat a variety of healthy foods. Using the right foods and portion size, The Food Doctor diet plan allows you to eat three meals a day in addition to a morning and midday snack.

This may sound like more than one would eat in a day, but it is based upon understanding the metabolism and how certain foods can decrease calories. In addition, The Food Doctor diet plan encompasses Glycemic Index foods to maintain insulin, which means cutting out sugars, breads, caffeine, and alcohol. While there are diets of all types online, this diet plan allows you to lose weight slowly, and thus you will not gain the weight back.

Included in The Food Doctor diet plan are: A personalized diet and fitness program aimed at achieving sustained weight loss, daily meal plans based on your lifestyle and preferences, online interaction with experts and other members through our message boards, recipes and shopping lists, fitness instructions and illustrations, web-based interactive diet tools, a newsletter, articles and inside tips, and access to your personalized diet plan 24 hours a day.
